Find and Prepare Your Pebbles

Pebbles – artworks of nature - have a tactile quality which is extremely conducive to constructive Rune consultation. With eyes closed, you can experience the textured sensation and hands-on fascination of such splendid objects and allow yourself to be emotionally open to challenging new perspectives on well-being.
Superb smooth pebbles are to be found on the seashore and also in flowing or dried-up river beds. More surprisingly, perfect pebbles for Rune making can be found in areas which were under the sea in the Jurassic period [between 210-140 million years ago]. For instance, many of the rocks near my inland home are marine in origin. However, I do enjoy beachcombing and thoroughly recommend seaside expeditions to collect potential Rune pebbles. Such outings are a fine way to spend a sunny afternoon.
Assuming you have managed to find 25 pebbles of not too dissimilar shape, size and smoothness, wash them in mild soapy water and leave to dry naturally. At this stage they will look dull so you can give both sides a coat of clear varnish to bring out the beauty of the pebble as it appears when washed by water. There is a choice of matt, satin or gloss - it's a matter of personal preference. Alternatively, skip this first layer of varnish, unless you are dealing with a porous pebble where the markings may 'bleed' if the surface has not been pre-sealed.
